The annual Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel is a not for profit event raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. The event is held each year in February on the Assiniboine River at the historic Forks Port in Winnipeg Manitoba, and in 2012 a second location was added on the Assiniboine River at the foot of the historic Granite Curling Club to allow for growth of the event.
The bonspiel is a fun weekend event for both men and women, young and old. The entry fee is $160 (as of the 2013 event). From that $160, $5 per participant goes to insurance costs, $40 goes towards the cost of running the event, and the remaining $100 goes to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Additional donations are also accepted and added to your charitable receipt which is issued after the event.
Curling outdoors on the river is a unique experience. Participants from all over North America have come to our FUN-raiser event to experience what outdoor curling was like not so many years ago (before indoor curling rinks were created to extend the curling season), and to experience the friendly atmosphere Winnipeg is so well known for.
