What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?
What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?
New Year’s Resolutions come in all shapes and sizes – some are hard and some are easy. Some resolutions are kept; however, many resolutions fall by the wayside early in the new year.
This year the Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel presented by your local Subaru Dealerships challenges everyone to keep it simple.
Make a resolution of being active, of having fun, of trying something new. What better way to accomplish having fun, being active and trying something new is to curl in the largest outdoor curling bonspiel held at The Forks on the Red River the first weekend in February!
If you know how to have fun, know how to laugh, and know three friends coupled with a hat, mittens, boots and maybe even a broom, of any size, you have all the experience and equipment necessary to compete in the Ironman Curling Bonspiel.
“Curling outdoors on the river is truly a Canadian and unique experience. If hockey and football can be played outdoors why can’t curling,” says Michael Thompson an Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel champion and current Executive Director of the event. “Participants from all over North America have come to our FUN-raiser event to experience outdoor curling and to experience the friendly atmosphere that Winnipeg is so well known for”.
The Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel presented by your local Subaru Dealerships is a not for profit event raising money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and is held each year in February on the river at The Forks in Winnipeg Manitoba. This year can potentially mark an amazing achievement as with a sell out event the Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel will surpass the milestone of over $100,000.00 raised to support the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Over the past 16 years the event has raised over $91,000.00
The bonspiel is a fun weekend event for both men and women, young and old. The entry fee is $160. From that, $60 goes towards the cost of running the event (insurance, rentals, etc) and $100 goes to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Additional player donations are also accepted and added to your charitable receipt which is issued after the event by the Heart & Stroke Foundation for any individual donations totaling $20.00 or over.
This bonspiel is the largest outdoor curling bonspiel in Canada and continues to grow each year
